Mackenzie is the Global Startup Evangelist at AWS. His days are spent traveling the globe to meet startups, share their stories, and connect engineering teams together. Every day there are a large number of startups launching on AWS across every imaginable industry. It’s Mackenzie’s mission to find stories of startups that are helping to improve the world and share these stories with a wide audience.
Join us for AWS Container Day in partnership with Docker. AWS is deeply committed to removing heavy lifting for teams. Developers love the simplicity of Docker Compose and Desktop, yet they haven’t had a simple way to use Docker and deploy to AWS from their local development environment. That is now handled natively. Docker collaborates with AWS to help developers speed delivery of modern apps to the cloud. This collaboration helps developers use Docker Compose and Docker Desktop to leverage the same local workflow they use today to seamlessly deploy apps on Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate.
Presenters: Maish Saidel-Keesing Sr. Developer Advocate, AWS & Casey Lee CTO at Gaggle, AWS Container Hero
In this session Casey Lee (CTO @ Gaggle and AWS Container Hero) will walk us through how they use Amazon ECS running thousands of containers to support their users. Maish Saidel-Keesing, AWS Developer Advocate, will review ECS native integrations with AWS services and will look at shared storage integration, Load Balancers, Secrets Manager and Container Insights. Include will be product demos and use cases that to help deepen your knowledge about ECS and its capabilities.
Presenters: Jeramiah Dooley, Sr. Developer Advocate, AWS and Lukonde Mwila, Principal Technical Evangelist at SUSE, AWS Container Hero
Â
In this session, Lukonde Mwila, Senior Software Engineer at Entelect and AWS Container Hero, will share his experiences of building out AWS infrastructure and open source projects on GitHub for the developer community to easily consume, replicate and improve for their own benefit. Jeramiah Dooley, AWS Developer Advocate, will share good practices for container security on AWS and will help you understand the AWS security features for static container security and the open source community on container signing. We'll introduce risk assessments and mitigation strategies using Amazon Inspector and AWS Security Hub that you can use to have a better grip on the security controls that are built for container workloads on AWS.
Presenters: Clarinda Mascarenhas, Sr. Container Specialist, AWS and Yiming Peng, Sr. Software Development Engineer, AWS
How can developers quickly deploy containerized web applications and APIs at scale? In this session, learn how App Runner, can shift their focus to applications rather than thinking about servers or scaling. We will also dive into how you can communicate with other applications like databases hosted in a private Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and AWS X-Ray integration as part of the observability suite.
Presenter: Adam Keller, Sr. Developer Advocate, AWS
Provisioning cloud applications can be a challenging process that requires you to perform manual actions, write custom scripts, learn domain-specific languages, or have deep knowledge of the platform required to deploy. Tools like the AWS Copilot CLI and the AWS CDK provide powerful abstractions built on good practices enabling teams to deploy faster, and focus on their business applications. In this talk, we’ll dive into some real-world use cases and demonstrate how these tools can help development and platform teams meet their objectives with less friction along the way.
